PROSPECTS AND SALARIES FOR PROFESSIONALS IN SLOVAKIA
A prestigious and well-paid job in the future, with the possibility of rapid career growth, as well as comfortable living in Europe are the main reasons why foreign applicants strive to enroll in universities in Slovakia.
Already studying in the first year, students have the opportunity to find employment and therefore the ability to pay their own living expenses in the country.
After graduating from a bachelor’s programme, a graduate can get a job in their field of study, but the salary of a bachelor, as compared to an engineer or a master’s degree, will be different. Having graduated from Master’s programme, a graduate becomes a qualified specialist and has a good chance of finding a more prestigious and well-paid position within the EU.
Every year all Slovak universities organize “job fairs”, where students and their prospective future employers have the opportunity to get acquainted and students have the opportunity to choose a company that interests them for employment. For many Slovak companies, students are a real asset, as a young, progressive professional will not only bring new ideas but will integrate more quickly into a new team, not to mention the speed of learning something new, so finding a job is not difficult.
Salaries in Slovakia are slightly lower than in other EU countries, but so is the living cost. Average salaries in Slovakia vary by industry. A higher income is paid to graduates in the following areas:
- high-tech sphere;
- financial;
- medical;
- law.
Salaries may vary from region to region. It goes without saying that the highest salaries will be in the capital. The average salary in Slovakia in 2021 is 1000 +/- 300 EUR per month.
In order to apply for a job in a company with good pay you must know Slovene and English as well as be a qualified and enterprising specialist, who meets requirements of the employer.
Any foreigner, almost immediately after conclusion of an employment contract, can obtain a residence permit in the country, which significantly expands their rights and opportunities.
