Mountain skiing in Slovakia

Slovakia is a small but cozy country with breathtaking views, clean air, and rather high living standards. Over recent years, Slovakia has enjoyed interest from college applicants, nationals of other countries who consider moving to Europe, job candidates from across the globe, as well as outdoor activities fans. Every year, thousands of tourists come here to enjoy crystal clear lakes, picturesque landscapes, and the splendor of the Carpathian Mountains. The Carpathians are the iconic landmark and a source of pride for locals. With the Carpathians, Slovakia has seen the development of mountain skiing tourism. Local resorts boast comfortable and well-furnished hotel complexes, perfectly smooth roads, and state-of-the-art equipment. At the same time, the prices are affordable enough, which allows Slovakia to compete with other winter destinations.

The choice of skiing activities is abundant and goes far beyond classic skiing or ski-running. You can enjoy snowboard, a free ride, biathlon, kitewing, snow tubing, or skating here. Slovak skiing resorts have made themselves a good reputation among those who prefer family vacations. Special skiing schools with the most experienced instructors are open for first-timers and kids across the country. There are entertainment parks for little ones.

Mountain skiing tourism is present in the below-listed places. Each of them has its uniqueness and peculiarities. However, there are two main criteria all these destinations have in common: marvelous nature and complete safety.

Jasná in the Low Tatras natural park is the top popular destination in Slovakia for outdoor activities and adventures today. It offers various comfortable pistes, developed infrastructure, and numerous extra activities: from après-ski to paragliding.

Tatranská Lomnica. Famed for its serious skiing school, it offers new skiing slopes, spacious chairlifts, and night skiing options.

Štrbské pleso. This skiing area accommodates several resorts at a time, where guests can enjoy winter sports and improve their health, too.

Donovaly is a well-furnished resort with a standard entertainment and leisure program. The resort is known for annual unconventional dog sleigh competitions.

– Vratna is another popular place for those who like participating in different competitions and activities. Athletes from all over the world come here. Ordinary tourists will appreciate a horse-drawn sleigh ride, night skiing, and dance parties to Slovakian national music.

These, of course, are just a small part of skiing resorts: There are much more in Slovakia. And every one of them deserves the attention of both first-timers and experienced tourists.
